UN Global Compact Ukraine invites you to a pre-URC meeting, Building Trust and Value: Clean Energy and Security Investments.
This event will unite government officials, international partners, financial institutions, and businesses to explore solutions for attracting investment into Ukraine’s new energy infrastructure.
The focus will be on trust-building, anti-corruption measures, and regulatory frameworks enabling reconstruction based on sustainable development principles and European market integration.
This meeting is part of the Ukrainian Energy Initiative by the UN Global Compact Ukraine.
The roundtable is organized in partnership with the FCDO, UK and with the support of GE Vernova.
Why does this matter?
- 2025 is a pivotal year for integrating innovations, developing energy storage technologies, and digitizing the industry.
- According to World Bank and IFC estimates, Ukraine could attract up to $130 billion in investment if it effectively implements key reforms and integrates with the EU. These investments will support the green transition, including clean energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable infrastructure.
- Subsequently, with consistent reforms, an additional $282 billion in business opportunities could be unlocked. These funds would cover over half of the $524 billion estimated to be needed for post-war reconstruction. Without such reforms, potential investment could drop to just $73 billion.
- Targeted reforms in the energy and extractive sectors could attract $36 billion in direct private investment and generate up to $132 billion in related economic opportunities.
- Both government aid and private investment depend on process transparency. Recent findings on anti-corruption measures within EU integration emphasize that integrity remains critical for energy sector recovery.
The event will be conducted in English; no translation will be provided.
