Siemens Integrity Initiative: Celebrating the Journey of Collective Action

08.07.2025

How can Ukraine build a systemic anti-corruption culture?

This is the question the UN Global Compact Ukraine has been working on over the past five years through its Anti-Corruption Collective Action programme, supported by the Siemens Integrity Initiative.

The goal? To make Ukraine more transparent, strengthen compliance practices, and foster a culture of zero tolerance for corruption. This June, after 15 years of global impact, the Anti-Corruption Collective Action project of the UN Global Compact marked a significant milestone and summarized its achievements.

The results and contributions of the UN Global Compact Ukraine were recognized at a special event in Mexico City on June 26–27, 2025, where our efforts over the past five years were honored with the Anti-Corruption Courage Award.

Our key achievements include:

  • Establishing a working group of almost 50 experts to advance collective anti-corruption actions.
  • Securing 65 signatories to the Memorandum on Joint Anti-Corruption Actions in Ukraine.
  • Launching the educational video course “Anti-Corruption” on Diia.Business, Diia.Education, and now also on MEGOGO.
  • 5 leading Ukrainian companies have integrated a video course into their Learning & Development programs, targeting more than 100 000 employees.
  • Receiving the international Anti-Corruption Collective Action Award 2022 from the Basel Institute on Governance.

“Corruption is a complex issue that cannot be solved in a day. It demands consistency and sustained efforts across all levels and from all stakeholders — from government to business and society,” emphasized Tetiana Sakharuk, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Ukraine, during the event in Mexico City.

The programme was led throughout its five-year journey by Daria Ruban, Lead of Social & Governance Programmes at the UN Global Compact Ukraine.

Also joining the event was Alexandra Levchenko, Deputy Head of Compliance at DTEK Group, a long-time supporter of our anti-corruption efforts from the very beginning.

Alexandra Levchenko took part in Panel Discussion “Collective Action Through Time – The Time is Now”.

This milestone doesn’t mark the end, but rather the start of a new chapter in advancing business integrity in Ukraine. And we’re just getting started.

Huge thanks to UN Global Compact Mexico for the warm welcome and for giving us the stage to share Ukraine’s story.
