The reporting period for the 2025 Communication on Progress (CoP) has begun!
Communication on Progress (CoP) — is a mandatory annual public reporting by companies participating in the UN Global Compact, which demonstrates their progress in achieving the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The updated version of the CoP is 85% aligned with the requirements of the European ESRS standards.
This is an opportunity for your company to share its efforts in adhering to these principles and its contribution to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Now, more than ever, it is important to combine ambitious plans with concrete actions to achieve real results.
Review the requirements<
The annual Communication on Progress (CoP) reporting consists of two mandatory elements* that must be submitted through the digital CoP platform by July 31, 2025:
*In 2025, instead of the CoP Questionnaire, a sustainability report uploaded via the digital platform can be submitted.
Why is this important?
Regular submission of the CoP is a requirement for all participants of the UN Global Compact. In addition to fulfilling obligations, companies receive a number of benefits, including:
Adhere to deadlines
The 2025 Communication on Progress submission period runs from April 1, 2025, to July 31, 2025.
The CoP report is an annual mandatory requirement for all companies participating in the UN Global Compact.
New participants are not required to submit a CoP in the year of joining. For example, companies that join the UN Global Compact in 2025 must submit their first CoP in 2026.
Participants (excluding new ones) who do not submit the 2025 CoP within the specified period will receive a “Non-communicating” status in their profile.
If a company with “Non-communicating” status does not submit a late report by December 31, 2025, it will be excluded from the UN Global Compact from January 1, 2026.
Useful resources for preparing and submitting the report
Participants can include additional materials in their report, which will be publicly available along with the main report. After submission, the report can be downloaded in PDF format via the platform and viewed on the participant’s profile.
If changes need to be made to a submitted report, participants can do so via the platform after submission. For detailed information, please refer to the 2025 CoP Amendment Policy.
Please note that all data, including additional documents, submitted by the company through the CoP platform will be publicly available on the UN Global Compact website. This data may be used for trend analysis or included in reports on the state of corporate sustainability. The UN Global Compact is not responsible for the accuracy of the submitted data and how this public data will be used by other stakeholders.
