Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Experience goes Global: UN Global Compact Ukraine and DTEK launch English-Language “Anti-Corruption” Video Course

02.12.2025

The UN Global Compact Ukraine and DTEK have released an English-language version of the educational series “Anti-Corruption” for a global audience. The video course is now available to European offices and companies worldwide.

Launched in February 2023 by the UN Global Compact Ukraine, the video course was created in collaboration with a working group that included DTEK’s Compliance Service alongside more than 40 organizations and 50 experts.

The series is designed for leaders and employees of small, medium, and large enterprises who face corruption and seek practical ways to combat it. The course has already been integrated into internal training programs by leading Ukrainian companies such as Caparol, DTEK, Kernel, MHP and Ukrnafta, reaching more than 100,000 participants.

Scaling the Course Globally

In 2025, DTEK, in partnership with the UN Global Compact Ukraine, translated and adapted all training materials into English. Both the Ukrainian and English versions have become part of DTEK’s internal compliance training system, aimed at strengthening the company’s anti-corruption culture, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with international ESG standards.

To date, more than 5,000 DTEK employees have completed the training. The English version is now available to employees across DTEK’s European offices and, as the program is publicly accessible, can be used by businesses around the world.

An Interactive Take on a Complex Topic

The course adopts a creative visual approach inspired by Lars von Trier’s “Dogville” — featuring a detective who investigates common corruption schemes, analyzes real-life situations, and offers practical strategies for avoiding compliance risks.

Each module includes a short video followed by a test to reinforce key lessons.

The modules cover topics such as:

  • Key risks faced by companies that ignore anti-corruption standards.
  • Practical steps to take when confronted with corruption in business or government interactions.
  • How leaders can motivate teams to maintain transparent practices.
  • Why is it critical to have a designated Compliance Officer to prevent and detect corruption?

More than 50 representatives from business, government, and civil society contributed to developing the storyline and materials, sharing their real experiences, challenges, and best practices.

Why It Matters

The “Anti-Corruption” course was created by business, for business, as part of the UN Global Compact Ukraine’s Anti-Corruption Collective Action Initiative. It provides companies with practical tools to comply with anti-corruption requirements, protect their reputation, and strengthen trust among partners, clients, and society.

“Transparency is a key factor for international partners, as it underpins trust, investment, and the effective rebuilding of Ukraine. At the UN Global Compact Ukraine, we understand this fully and consistently promote a culture of zero tolerance for corruption.

This is why we developed the “Anti-Corruption” video course, based on real-life cases from Ukrainian businesses. It provides guidance on how to protect your rights, maintain transparency in operations, and counter opaque schemes,” said Tetiana Sakharuk, Executive Director of the UNGC Ukraine, Chair for the Regional Network Council for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the UN Global Compact.
