Reconstruction of Ukraine — United Business for Ukraine
21 вересня в рамках Генеральної Асамблеї ООН Мережі Глобального договору ООН в Україні та Польщі спільно презентували дослідження «United Business for Ukraine».
Анджей Дуда, Президент Польщі, став спеціальним гостем українсько-польського заходу та виступив від імені польського народу зі словами підтримки українців. Він розповів, як Польща реагує на війну й допомагає мільйонам українців, які стали вимушеними переселенцями. А також наголосив, бізнес є основою економічного відновлення й що польський бізнес готовий заходити в Україну саме як бізнес за наявності гарантій безпеки.
Прем’єр-міністр України Денис Шмигаль подякував Президенту Польщі за підтримку та вірність принципу «об’єднані в захисті — об’єднані у відновленні». Обговорили потенціал плану відновлення, який складає 750 млрд доларів, дозволяє зацікавити міжнародні корпорації та інвесторів, аби вони планували участь в українському відновленні вже зараз. Пан Шмигаль наголосив, що саме приватний сектор має стати одним з основних драйверів відбудови.
Україна тримає курс на прогрес у реалізації Цілей сталого розвитку та вступ до Європейського Союзу. У цьому Україна потребує підтримки приватного сектору з усього світу. Про роль бізнесу в розв’язанні світових криз розповіла Санда Оджіамбо, помічниця Генерального секретаря ООН, генеральна та виконавча директорка Глобального договору ООН.
Після презентації дослідження «United Business for Ukraine», яке демонструє, як бізнес у всьому світі допомагає Україні під час війни, Тетяна Сахарук, генеральна директорка ГД ООН в Україні, зазначила, що ГД ООН продовжує збирати інформацію про те, як бізнес допомагає Україні на етапі війни, і закликала компанії проходити опитування й надалі. Дані дослідження допомагають стимулювати інші бізнеси доєднуватися до світового руху допомоги нашій країні і формують історію.

Після презентації дослідження відбулося обговорення про реагування бізнесу й міжнародних фінансових інституцій на війну в Україні, у якому взяли участь Скотт А. Натан, генеральний директор DFC, Катажина Зайдел-Куровська, виконавча директорка Світового банку, та Максим Тимченко, генеральний директор ДТЕК, Рафал Баняк, генеральний директор Pracodawcy RP, Єжи Квєцінський, віцепрезидент правління Pekao SA, Павло Борис, генеральний директор Польського фонду розвитку, Рета Джо Льюїс, голова Ексімбанку. В обговоренні також узяли участь Кшиштоф Щерскі, Посол, Постійний представник Республіки Польща при ООН. Про стале відновлення й перспективу UNOPS (Управління ООН з обслуговування проєктів) для відновлення України розповів Єнс Вандел, виконавчий директор організації.
Війна триває, й Україна й далі потребує підтримки союзників для боротьби за свою свободу. Глобальний договір ООН в Україні докладає всіх зусиль, щоб об’єднувати приватний та міжнародний фінансовий сектор для допомоги нашій країні.
On September 21, within the framework of the UN General Assembly, the UN Global Compact Network in Ukraine and Poland jointly presented the study “United Business for Ukraine”.
Andrzej Duda, the President of Poland, became a special guest at the Ukrainian-Polish event and spoke on behalf of the Polish people with words of support for Ukrainians. He told how Poland responds to the war and helps millions of Ukrainians who have become forced migrants. He also emphasized that business is the basis of economic recovery and that Polish business is ready to enter Ukraine precisely as a business if there are security guarantees.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, thanked the President of Poland for his support and loyalty to the principle “united in defense — united in recovery.” They discussed the potential of the recovery plan, which amounts to 750 billion dollars, that allows to interest international corporations and investors so that they plan to participate in the Ukrainian recovery now. Mr. Shmyhal emphasized that the private sector should become one of the main drivers of reconstruction.
Ukraine is on course for progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals and joining the European Union. In this, Ukraine needs the support of the private sector from around the world. Sanda Ojiambo, the assistant to the UN Secretary-General, general, and executive director of the UN Global Compact spoke about the role of business in solving world crises.
After the presentation of the study “United Business for Ukraine”, which shows how business around the world is helping Ukraine during the war, Tetiana Sakharuk, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Ukraine, noted that the UN Global Compact continues to collect information on how business is helping Ukraine in the stage of the war, and called on the companies to take surveys in the future. These studies help stimulate other businesses to join the global movement to help our country and shape history.

After the presentation of the research, there was a discussion about the response of business and international financial institutions to the war in Ukraine, which was attended by Scott Nathan, Chief Executive Officer of DFC, Katarzyna Zajdel-Kurowska, Executive Director for the World Bank, and Maksym Timchenko, CEO of DTEK, Rafal Banyak, CEO of Pracodawcy RP, Jerzy Kwiecinski, Vice President of the Board of Pekao SA, Paweł Borys, CEO of the Polish Development Fund, Reta Joe Lewis, Chairman of Eximbank. Krzysztof Szczerski, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the UN also took part in the discussion. Jens Wandel, executive director of the organization, spoke about sustainable recovery and the perspective of UNOPS (United Nations Office for Project Services) for the recovery of Ukraine.
The war continues, and Ukraine still needs the support of its allies to fight for its freedom. The UN Global Compact in Ukraine is making every effort to bring together the private and international financial sectors to help our country.
