Pre-URC Roundtable by the UN Global Compact Ukraine

29.05.2026

The Ukraine’s Energy Experience: Building Resilience Together with Europe Roundtable will serve as a strategic platform ahead of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026, focusing on positioning Ukraine as a key energy hub for Europe.

Following its synchronisation with the European energy system, Ukraine continues to deepen its integration while accelerating the reconstruction of its energy infrastructure, creating unique opportunities for the country to become a key hub for electricity trade, renewable energy development, gas storage, and future hydrogen supply.

At the same time, large-scale investment inflows require strong guarantees of transparency, governance, and risk mitigation. While reforms such as the implementation of EU-aligned energy market regulations have significantly improved market integrity, investors still face challenges related to war risks, regulatory predictability, and infrastructure resilience.

Building on previous URC priorities, this roundtable will shift the narrative – from recovery to strategic integration and leadership, highlighting Ukraine not only as a beneficiary, but as a provider of energy security for Europe.

Date: 24 June at 13:30 CET
Venue: Gdańsk Olivia Star Building/ Aleja Grunwaldzka 472, 80-309 Gdańsk, Poland
Registration is required to participate

Objectives

  • Position Ukraine as a regional energy hub and exporter;
  • Strengthen investor confidence through integrity and transparency tools;
  • Facilitate partnerships between Ukrainian and European stakeholders;
  • Address risk-sharing mechanisms in a wartime and post-war economy;
  • Highlight opportunities in renewables, grids, storage, and hydrogen.

Key Discussion Topics

  • What is required for Ukraine to become a full-scale energy hub for Europe?
  • How can cross-border integration (electricity, gas, hydrogen) be accelerated?
  • What are the key investment risks in energy infrastructure and how can they be mitigated (insurance, guarantees, blended finance)?
  • How does transparency (REMIT, corporate governance, ESG) influence investor decisions?
  • What role can Ukraine play in strengthening European energy security in the next decade?
  • How can public and private actors jointly scale next-generation energy systems?
